What is live-in overnight care?
Many people need support during the night — whether it's help getting to the toilet, reassurance after waking confused, turning to prevent pressure sores, or medication that needs to be given at specific times. Overnight care ensures someone is always there.
We offer two types of overnight support: sleeping nights, where the carer sleeps in the home but is available if needed, and waking nights, where the carer stays awake throughout the night to provide active care.
For people with dementia, overnight care is particularly important. Sundowning — increased confusion and agitation in the evening and night — is common, and having a calm, trained presence can prevent distress, wandering, and falls.
What our overnight care includes
Sleeping Night Care
The carer sleeps in a spare room but is available to help if your loved one wakes, needs the toilet, or becomes distressed during the night.
Waking Night Care
The carer remains awake throughout the night, providing active care — repositioning, medication, monitoring, and comfort.
