Meet Our Live-in Carers
Our carers are the heart of everything we do. Every carer is carefully vetted, professionally trained, and matched to your family based on skills, experience, and personality.
What makes our carers exceptional
Finding the right carer is the single most important factor in successful live-in care. That's why we invest enormous time and effort in recruiting, vetting, training, and matching our carers. Only applicants who pass every stage of our checks are introduced to families.
Our carers aren't just skilled professionals. They are compassionate, patient, adaptable people who genuinely care about making a difference in someone's life.
What to expect from your carer
Every carer is different, but these are the standards every introduction has to meet.
Experience that fits the need
Carers are matched on what the role actually involves - dementia, stroke recovery, Parkinson's, end-of-life care or simply company and help around the house.
Checked before they arrive
Enhanced DBS check, references, right-to-work and care qualifications are all confirmed before a carer is introduced to any family.
A profile you see first
You read about the carer's background, experience and interests before they start, and you can ask questions or ask for someone else.
Part of the household, not a visitor
Your carer lives in, cooks, keeps the house running and follows the routines that matter to the person they support.
Breaks covered properly
Carers take a daily break and rotate after an agreed period. We arrange a replacement carer so care never stops.
Someone to call
Families and carers both have our care team to call when needs change, something isn't working or a review is due.
Our rigorous vetting process
Every carer who works with The Live-in Care Agency goes through a comprehensive vetting process:
- Application screening: We review qualifications, experience, and motivations.
- Face-to-face interview: An in-depth interview assessing skills, character, communication, and attitude.
- Enhanced DBS check: A thorough criminal record check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- Reference checks: At least two professional references and five years of employment history verified.
- Right to work verification: Confirming identity documents and legal right to work in the UK.
- Qualification verification: Checking all care qualifications and professional registrations.
- Practical assessment: Testing practical care skills including moving and handling, personal care, and emergency procedures.
- Ongoing training: Regular ongoing training throughout their time with us.
How we match carers to clients
We believe that the right match is about far more than just skills. We consider:
- Care skills and experience: Matching specific medical knowledge to your loved one's needs.
- Personality: We find a carer whose temperament complements theirs.
- Interests: Shared interests create genuine connection.
- Cultural sensitivity: Language, dietary preferences, and cultural values are all considered.
- Practical factors: Driving licence, pet comfort, dietary knowledge, and other requirements.
You'll always have the opportunity to review a carer's profile before they start, and if the match doesn't feel right, we'll find an alternative at no extra cost.

"I can thoroughly recommend Live-in Care Direct. Jason was able to find a live in carer for my mother, on her discharge from hospital, with only 24 hours notice. The carers were kind and professional and there were never any problems."
"My wife recently suffered a stroke and after being in hospital for almost 2 months she has finally returned home. Without the help of Live-in Care Direct this would not have been possible. From my first contact, they were amazing and incredibly supportive."
"We had a wonderful carer called Elva care for my nan. She showed such kindness and compassion. The care provided was exceptional. Having a live-in carer meant our nan could remain living in her own home safely. I would definitely recommend Live-in Care Direct."
